Overview

“Life at the Farm” offers a hands-on, meaningful experience designed to connect young adults and families with the rich, fulfilling aspects of farm life, going beyond the typical tourist party scene of Pai. This project provides an immersive day of learning and self-discovery through hands-on activities focused on land restoration, sustainable living, and community building. Participants will gain practical skills in a relaxed environment while experiencing Pai’s natural beauty and cultural richness. The program attracts those looking for meaningful alternatives to the usual party activities by offering the chance to connect with nature, the land, and the local community.

Goals

  • Reframe Pai’s Image: Shift the perception of Pai from a party town to a place of cultural and ecological discovery.
  • Provide Fulfillment: Offer young adults enriching activities that provide a sense of achievement, community, and connection with nature.
  • Teach Sustainable Living: Equip participants with practical permaculture skills that they can take home and apply.
  • Foster Community: Create a space for like-minded individuals to meet, collaborate, and share ideas in a supportive environment.

Content

  • Mud Building: Learn how to construct sustainable structures using local materials like clay, straw, and sand.
  • Planting Seedlings: Hands-on experience with nurturing and planting seedlings, contributing to the farm’s ecosystem.
  • Mud Plaster and Paint: Get creative by applying natural mud plaster and paint to buildings, learning eco-friendly construction techniques.
  • Gardening: Engage in permaculture-based gardening, understanding soil health, water management, and seasonal planting.
  • Composting: Learn the fundamentals of composting, turning organic waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer.

By reframing Pai as a hub for sustainability and creative expression to the typical young adult tourist, “Life at the Farm” will offer young adults a unique, impactful experience that transcends the typical tourist activities in town.

The farm also serves as the incubator for the Regenerative Farmers Cooperative in Muang Noi, a project participants can learn more about during their visit or through a homestay in Muang Noi.
